Technologies are not longer by and for the rich. Mobile telephony in particular has made enormous inroads globally, and the most sophisticated smartphones and user-driven innovation are to be found in the most unlikely of places. Still, the most common, taken-for-granted rule we have about markets is that there are mature ones or emerging ones, developed and developing economies, as if they can easily be pigeon-holed into an economically-driven hierarchy. These utterly obsolete views are deeply embedded in the technology industry and continue to cloud our vision, hindering opportunities. This talk will show how to get beyond them.
