Rob Spence, also known as Eyeborg, is a filmmaker who lost his eye a while back and replaced it with a prosthetic eye that has a wireless video camera in it. Recently, the Eyeborg eyecam was recognized as one of Time Magazine's best inventions of the year. Rob and his team of engineers are working on an Eyeborg app for smartphones that will let you see what he sees. Real time streaming video straight from his literal point of view. Not unlike what Ashton Kutcher does with Ustream but in Rob's case you see glancing and blinking from his eye socket rather than from an iPhone. And he has the option to paint the prosthetic to look just like a normal eye. Not stopping there however - he wants to add AR to the video stream coming from his eye. In a way his eyeball is just an iPhone camera.
Rob will discuss his eye camera, the challenges of getting the video into a streaming app and adding smart phone style functionality to the video feed. They are pretty sure they can even get a tilt function in there. Going beyond the technical Rob discusses his unique point of view on privacy and where we are going in the future when more and more information is becoming available about all of us - and largely through video apps.
