In many industries, the traditional, linear value chains are being replaced by complex, interdependent and dynamic relationships between multiple sets of actors within different industries, geographies, and business and revenue models. Rapidly shifting business environments place high demands on agile business models, and typically require sophisticated management of temporary or long term collaborations with technology providers, co-developers, customers and even competitors. At the same time, as the key resources and assets required are increasingly intangible, businesses must be able to manage their knowledge as controlled, intangible assets, including data, databases, algorithms, designs, technical solutions, etc., to monitor development and value, to be able to label them as background going into collaborations, or to use them in value propositions and transactions with other companies.
In this presentation, Anders Sundelin will show how the business model concept, together with a methodology to manage intellectual assets, opens up new ways to look at value creation.
