The continually evolving digital infrastructures deployed on a global scale are having a profound impact on businesses in communications -- and virtually every other sector as well. While companies depend on innovation to provide new opportunities, markets are struggling to adjust to increasingly non-stop innovation and disruption.
This talk will share key findings from the Shift Index suggesting that corporations, including those in communications, are under growing pressure. Their performance has deteriorated for decades as a result of growing power by customers and creative talent. Long term trends suggest that business practices are fundamentally broken.
Emerging communications ventures can turn challenge into opportunity by recognizing that the source of economic value is shifting from knowledge stocks to knowledge flows. This provides an opportunity to drive scalable peer to peer learning that will unleash increasing returns on a global scale. As we begin to focus on this opportunity, we will evolve fundamentally new technology and communications architectures in our infrastructures to more effectively support distributed innovation and learning.
