Matthew S. Hamrick

Starting his career as an engineer, Matt Hamrick has developed a keen understanding of technical issues surrounding wired and wireless communication systems. But a recent trip to business school taught him why the future of wireless will be dominated by small firms specializing in high margin, low volume products and services. In the "Complete Open Phone Manifesto," Mr. Hamrick describes the forces shaping emerging mobile technology markets, why "the big guys" are ill-equipped to service high value lead users, how small, agile companies can make money servicing them and most radically, why software and hardware designs for mobile devices should be free and open. His talk, "RETHINK : The Complete Open Phone Story" encapsulates these concepts in a 15 minute presentation. Mr. Hamrick is currently the "Cat Herder" for the Homebrew Mobile Phone Club.
